This webinar unpacks the complex history of the modern Gaza Strip. Looking at the Egyptian and Israeli occupations and the Oslo divisions, we will explore how Hamas was able to grow and strengthen itself within the Gaza Strip, and how the foundation was laid for the group’s eventual takeover in 2007. Building on this, we will discuss the Hamas government and how it administered the Strip, looking towards future prospects and possibilities in Gaza.
